This day of commemoration is set aside to honor the commitment and the sacrifices made by this nation's Prisoners of War (POW) and those who are still Missing in Action (MIA), as well as their families.

Mr. Lovel Henderson, Voluntary Services Officer of the Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, held the Volunteer Services POW / MIA Recognition Day to show honor and homage to all of our Nation's POWs (Prisoners of War) and to remember our Nation's MIAs (Missing in Action).  This year's event took place on September 19, 2007.

Dr. Barbara Fleming took charge of the remembrance festivities.  Dr. Fleming is the POW Physician Coordinator for the Wade Park VA.

The event took place in the VAVS (Veterans Administration Volunteer Services) meeting room at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (aka our beloved Wade Park VA).

Mr. Lovel Henderson, Wade Park VA Voluntary Service Officer, Mr. Jarman G. Kennard POW/MIA and guest speaker, and Ms. Shirley Hanks, Wade Park VA Volunteer Specialist

Dr. Fleming gave the Welcome and made the Introductions; the invocation was rendered by Chaplain Joseph Hilton, III; the Presentation of Colors was made by the VFW Post 7754 Color Guard; the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered by Mr. Roger Lucci, Deputy - B.P.O.E.; the Missing Man Table was given by Ms. Alice Sheperd, VFW Auxiliary Post 7754; the Memorabilia Display was rendered by Dr. Barbara Fleming; Introduction of Speaker by Dr. Barbara Fleming; and our Keynote speaker was Mr. Jarman G.
